Nicola Richardson

Qualifications:
BSc (Hons) B.Ost.

Nicola Richardson joined our practice in 2010. She also practices in three clinics across the North East treating a large cross section of the public. Her patients range throughout the lifespan from children, pre and post partum women, to the elderly. The Northern School of Contemporary Dance affords her the opportunities to support, treat, and prevent sports related injuries. The broad range of patients she has encountered has enabled her to further her dynamic approach to treating the individual. She enjoys engaging each patient in integrating an understanding of their body with their lifestyle and has a particular interest in the evolutionary background to human structure and function.

Nicola’s diagnostic skills and gentle approach enables patients to relax during treatment and her experience with Pilates is useful as a basis for rehabilitation exercises. She developed an interest in Cranial techniques early in her Osteopathic training, and has completed modules one & two from the Sutherland Cranial College. These techniques have been invaluable and she plans to continue developing this aspect of treatment. Working across a number of clinics has given Nicola access to a broad range of experience and understanding of different treatment approaches.

Nicola has also undertaken further training since graduating in Advanced Manipulation, with minimal leverage, Osteopathy in the Cranial Field with the Sutherland Cranial College and a Dry Needling – Acupuncture course.

Prior to studying Osteopathy, Nicola completed a degree in Zoology and has also worked part time with adults and teenagers with physical and learning disabilities, where she enjoyed seeing them develop new interests and skills.

In her spare time Nicola enjoys anything that takes her into the countryside and has done since she was little when she had a passion for horses. Now she loves mountain biking and is out as often as the weather will allow. She practises Tai Chi and Pilates, and is currently a green belt in Judo. She also enjoys keeping fit with rollerblading, running and Frisbee.

Nicola also practices at Guiseley Osteopathic Centre, and The Good Health Centre, in Leeds and formely at the York Osteopathic Clinic for York City Council.

Nicola is available at York natural health on Thursdays from 2pm – 8pm
