Liz  Shepherd is a fully qualified Feldenkrais Practitioner with over 12 years experience teaching movement and exercise.

Feldenkrais is an excellent adjunct to manual therapies - to maintain flexibility and ease of movement after your course of treatment. A number of patients at York Natural Health have already benefited from the regular weekly class which Liz holds.

Feldenkrais is a method of body awareness and movements which can help ease and release tension. Where as a lot of exercise classes work on increasing large end of range movements, the Feldenkrais method enables a person to feel into an area that has a particular restriction and gently stretch that area. A lot of movement patterns develop as we come into the world, if these movement patterns are out of balance then we will inevitably create strain and tension patterns over time. With Feldenkrais the classes can help focus our body movements so that we become more aware of how we move and can retrain ourselves to move with minimum of effort and strain. This frees up more energy for our body to undertake other activities rather than being drained by energy going into inefficient posture and movement patterns.
