Alan is an experienced therapist with almost 20 years’ experience of helping people to achieve their potential. He is skilled in dealing with a wide range of issues: phobias, anxiety, depression, addictions, relationships, body image, weight loss, smoking and all of those problems that life throws at us. He provides a supportive and calming environment in which clients can develop and grow.
His interest in therapy began when he experienced issues of his own and sought help. This assists him when he sees clients because he has real experience of how it feels to need support and to benefit from it. Having been successful in bringing about the changes in his life that were necessary to become well again, he decided to train as a therapist.
Initially, he spent two years studying transactional analysis psychotherapy and then moved on to hypnotherapy, later branching out into general counselling and life coaching.
“My viewpoint is that all problems can be resolved by change, but the change has to be gentle, gradual and safely controlled. A treatment programme should always go at the pace the client wants. It is a development of new life skills and deserves careful attention. I am a patient listener and am happy to support clients to move through their treatments at their own pace.”
Alan has a science background but has also worked as an airline pilot. In that role, he mentored a large number of trainee and junior pilots and cabin crew. He acted as a developmental and life coach to many of those aircrew, using a combination of therapies to assist them to enhance their life skills as well as deal with underlying psychological problems. Alan also offers interview coaching and treatment plans to overcome interview nerves.
Sessions are available face-to-face or online. This is particularly helpful since the Coronavirus disrupted life so much and for many has caused an additional batch of problems.
Alan is happy to chat free of charge on the phone for an initial consultation to determine whether he could help you. He would only take you on as a client if he were sure that working together would benefit you.
