Relying on the healing power of nature
We believe in the inherent self-healing process of the human body. We help you to uncover and remove any obstacles that allow you to recover from ill health or injury.
focusing on the underlying causes of disease
For naturopathy treatments to work, underlying causes of illnesses must be addressed, rather than simply treating a patient’s symptoms.
FOCUSING ON YOU AS A whole person
By taking into account your individual physical, mental, emotional, environmental, social and spiritual factors when forming a bespoke treatment plan.
Emphasing prevention rather than cure
The old adage that prevention is always better than cure runs deep here at York Natural Health. We hope these foundational principles align with you also.

How It Works
Naturopaths help you get to the root underlying causes of your health issues and guide you on the changes you need to make in order to get well. Naturopaths practice “natural medicine,” but they do so by using a combination of different therapies. For example, natural remedies that can be used to help treat patients include nutrition recommendations, fasting, hydrotherapy and stress-relieving techniques.
Naturopathy Practitioners use some of the following therapies/tools:
- Clinical/diagnostic testing
- Probiotics
- Nutritional therapy
- Massage therapy
- Manipulative therapy
- Acupuncture
- Exercise advice

Naturopath’s do not prescribe medical drugs but instead coach the client/patient on how to get healthier. Being healthier will give the body a better internal environment to allow for healing without medical drugs. Naturopath’s do when necessary advise on the use of some supplements as part of a healthy eating plan. Naturopath’s also understand and appreciate the need for medical drugs when necessary and do not recommend the cessation of medical drugs without the supervision by a GP.
“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food,” Hippocrates.
Nutrition is the foundation of a naturopathy and it’s practice. Whole, free range and when possible organic food is used for both health promotion and disease prevention. Naturopath’s recommend diets individualised for each person, though typically this means a balanced whole-food diet rich in fruits, vegetables, legumes, wild-caught fish, lean animal proteins, whole dairy products.
In order to maximize the quality and nutritional value its often recommended to minimise the environmental impact and foods that are in best in their natural state, obtained locally, and eaten seasonally.
Naturopaths understand and appreciate how difficult and complex dietary changes can be, and assist their clients through these changes by providing bespoke recommendations.
No, in the UK Naturopaths are considered “traditional Naturopaths” that are more like a health consultant or wellness counsellor or health coach than a medical doctor. Naturopaths in the UK are fully trained and practice the traditional roots of Naturopathy but are not Medical Doctors as they are in America.
If is always difficult to say as it depends on the person, their condition and how they respond to recommendations. Further testing and clinical lab testing may needed to measure progress.
