The word Reiki comes from Japan and means Universal Life Force Energy. It is an ancient form of healing which was rediscovered in the 19th century by Dr Mikao Usui. It is believed to re-activate the body’s own natural healing ability. It is a gentle treatment and is safe to use on people of all ages.

Working through clothing, the client lies or sits in a restful position, while the practitioner uses light contact or noncontact, where appropriate, over certain areas of the body in sequence from head to toe to help improve energy distribution.

Most people who experience Reiki appear to leave the sessions feeling more calm and relaxed and some fall into a light sleep through the treatment.

Reiki is a complementary therapy and not an alternative to medical advice.
